How to uninstall my GSM-Ready card under Windows 95/95b/98?

To uninstall your PC-Card under Windows 95/95b/98 go to:
    <Start> <Settings> <Control Panel> <Modems> highlight your modem and click <Remove>

For a complete cleanup and some more in depth troubleshooting, proceed as follows:
(Do NOT proceed if you are unfamiliar with the Windows structure!)
- When you make changes in certain files be sure to make a backup of the edited files
- Go to:

<Start>
<Run> type: sysedit and click <OK>

In CONFIG.SYS, if Card & Socket Services (C&SS) are loading, rem out the corresponding lines (these lines generally contain words like:
DEVICE=C:\ .cardsoft, cardwiz, cardware, CC, CS, ..)

In SYSTEM.INI, go to the section [boot] and make sure (the default Windows line) comm.drv=comm.drv is listed, if this is not the case or an altered
*comm.drv* line is listed put a ";" in front of this line and add the default comm.drv line. In the section [386Enh] make sure (the default Windows line)
device=*vcd is listed, if this is not the case or an altered *vcd* line is listed put a ";" in front of this line and add the default vcd line.

When SYSEDIT is closed it will prompt you to save the files, click 'YES'

To uninstall your Option International modem go to:

<Start> <Settings> <Control Panel> <Modems> highlight your modem(s) and click <Remove>

<Start> <Settings> <Control Panel> <System> <Device Manager>, check if a <modem> icon is listed, if this is the case click on the + in front of the modem icon and remove the OPTION line (if there is one listed). Check under <PCMCIA Socket> if the PCMCIA controller is correctly installed without red cross or yellow exclamation mark (if the controller seems to be incorrectly installed contact your notebook manufacturer).

You will need to delete the OPTION driver from the system registry (if it is still present after the above steps).

<Start>
<Run> type: regedit and click <OK>

In Regedit:

Double Click \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Double Click \Enum
Double Click \PCMCIA
You will see a folder or folders, if any or more of these folders refer to the Option International modem, highlight and delete the specific entries.

Double Click \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Double Click \SYSTEM
Double Click \CurrentControlSet
Double Click \Services
Double Click \Class
Double Click \Modem

Installed modems will be shown as '0000' and '0001' and '0002' . Highlight these entries one by one and check (in the right side of the window) if Option International is listed, if this is the case delete the entree.

Exit the Registry Editor, in the menu <Registry> <exit>

Shell to DOS.

This may bring up a set of files ranging from oem0 to oem9 (or higher)

Using the DOS edit command you can view the contents of each OEM? file.
Example: Type: edit oem0.inf

Once the file is opened, review it for any reference or instructions to Option International.
Any files containing such references should be deleted.
When all OEM files pertaining to Option International are removed exit from DOS by typing EXIT  and press <Enter>.
From the Windows Desktop shut down the computer by clicking on <Start> <Shut down> and then <YES>.
