Yes, you can!
The FirstFone radio card can be installed
and used as a modem under Windows XP. However
the install software supplied on CD-Rom with the FirstFone
is not compatible with Windows XP.
So, how does it work?
First you must install the FirstFone card
as a modem by plugging in the PC- card. New hardware
will be detected and the Windows XP wizard
will guide you through the installation. The FirstFone
driver is included in the Windows XP OS.
Next run the XP_Poweroff.reg
tool and reboot your system. By running this tool
you will allow the PC-card slot to power on
the FirstFone radio card at all times to keep
it registered to the network.
Since the FirstFone radio card is a GSM-card
it will require to register on the GSM-network. There
is a "Dialer
for Windows XP" available that will allow
you to enter the PIN code. Once you have entered
your PIN code is accepted close the Dialer application
to free the COM-port. The FirstFone is now
ready for DATA connections.
! Make sure your SIM card is DATA
enabled (check with your GSM-Network provider)
! Make sure the number you are connecting
to allows GSM-DATA calls (check with your ISP)
Can I setup voice calls?
The Dialer tool will allow you to setup voice calls
(Readme file).
