Has the power management of the PC-card slot been
switched off?
Win95/98 use power-management and they shut down the
card when not in use hence losing the PIN code. Therefore
you have to disable this.
For Windows 95: Go to <Start>
<Settings> <Control
Panel> <Power>
<PC-card Modems>
The checkbox should not be selected.
The PC must be rebooted before the settings take effect.
For Windows 98: Click on the Signal Strength icon
in the status area on the task bar and click on "Control
Panel". Select the "Version" tab.
The <Enable Windows Power Management>
checkbox should not be selected.
Be sure the FirstFone is inserted, otherwise
you will not have the Signal Strength icon.
The PC must be rebooted before the settings
take effect.
To turn of the power-management for the PCMCIA slot
under Windows you can follow the above procedure or
download the following registry-edit file: Poweroff.reg
Put this file on your hard drive (C:\) - double click
the file - The PC must be rebooted before the settings
take effect.
