FOR IMMEDIATE
RELEASE
LEUVEN - BELGIUM - December 10th 2003 - OPTION (Euronext:
OPTI), the wireless technology company, today announced
that its new GlobeTrotter Combo has been chosen by T-Mobile,
one of the world's leading mobile communications companies
and subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom (NYSE: DT), to extend
its range of mobile data services to the German market.
Option announced GlobeTrotter Combo, the data card
combining GSM/GPRS and Wireless LAN (WiFi) technologies,
at ITU TELECOM WORLD in October 2003. The card was launched
to satisfy the market need for the mobile professional
to take full advantage of the growing number of WLAN
& WiFi services being bundled by mobile operators,
of which T-Mobile is a leading player.
Last year T-Mobile already selected Option's GlobeTrotter
GSM/GPRS only card. Both data cards are sold under the
T-Mobile brand.
Jan Callewaert, CEO at Option: "I am very pleased
for the continuing business with T-Mobile in taking
our new product GlobeTrotter Combo. A strong track record
in developing and manufacturing wireless data cards
and a solid support service were, once again, the main
reasons for choosing Option."
T-Mobile's choice for the GlobeTrotter Combo clearly
shows that the market is ready for the next generation
of wireless data cards. Until recently GPRS was the
only widely available choice for wireless data. Now
we see WiFi hotspots at destinations like hotels, conference
centres and corporate premises and in transit locations
like airports, train stations, public buildings and
marinas. With roaming agreements between GPRS and WiFi
becoming commonplace the GlobeTrotter Combo will be
great market success.
