FOR RELEASE:
IMMEDIATE
ITU TELECOM WORLD – Geneva - October 13, 2003.
Option (Euronext: OPTI; Nasdaq Europe OPIN), the wireless
technology company, today announced GlobeTrotter Combo,
a data card combining GPRS and Wireless LAN (WiFi) technologies.
The new card is an addition to the currently marketed
GlobeTrotter card.
The GlobeTrotter Combo card is being launched to satisfy
the market need for the mobile professional to take
full advantage of the growing number of WiFi services
being bundled by mobile operators.
“Following the success of the existing GlobeTrotter
card the market is now ready for the next generation
: the GlobeTrotter Combo”, said Jan Callewaert,
CEO at Option. “Until recently GPRS was the only
widely available choice for Mobile Data. Now we see
WiFi hotspots at destinations like hotels, conference
centres and corporate premises and in transit locations
like airports, train stations, public buildings and
marinas. With roaming agreements between GPRS and WiFi
becoming commonplace, we expect the GlobeTrotter Combo
to be a great market success”.
