OPTION NV SELECTS QUALCOMM MSM6200 CHIPSET AND SYSTEM SOFTWARE FOR POWERING WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY SOLUTIONS FOR WCDMA (UMTS) MARKETS

SAN DIEGO and LEUVEN, Belgium - October 9, 2003 - QUALCOMM
Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader
of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless
technology, and Option NV (Euronext: OPTI, Nasdaq Europe:
OPIN), a wireless technology company, today announced
the selection of QUALCOMM's MSM6200™ Mobile Station
Modem™ (MSM™) chipset and system software
for Option's dual-mode, third-generation (3G) wireless
PC-Radio Cards. Integrating QUALCOMM's MSM6200 chipset,
which supports WCDMA (UMTS), GSM and GPRS technologies,
with Option's multimode, multiband wireless PC-Radio Cards
will provide the WCDMA (UMTS) market with a high-quality,
high-speed wireless connectivity solution.

Option will bring 3G high-speed data solutions to wireless carriers who will promote to their customers
secure access to critical business and personal productivity applications, such as e-mail and corporate
databases as well as instantaneous intranet and Internet connectivity at high speeds.
Currently powering commercially deployed handsets in Japan,
the MSM6200 chipset is QUALCOMM's second generation WCDMA
(UMTS) solution and supports data rates of up to 384 kbps
in WCDMA (UMTS) mode. Like all members of the MSM6xxx
family, the MSM6200 solution incorporates QUALCOMM's radioOne™
Zero Intermediate Frequency (ZIF) architecture, which
eliminates the need for Intermediate Frequency (IF) components,
including large IF saw filters and additional IF circuitry.
With radioOne technology, the MSM6200 solution requires
less printed circuit board area than previous generation
chipsets and reduces bill-of-material costs for wireless
dual-mode products.
The MSM6200 solution also supports QUALCOMM's Launchpad™
suite of advanced multimedia, connectivity, position location,
user interface and removable storage functionality, as
well as QUALCOMM's BREW™ system. QUALCOMM's BREW
system provides products and services that connect the
mobile marketplace value chain, which includes application
developers, publishers, content providers, device manufacturers,
operators and consumers. This chipset is also compatible
with the Java™ runtime environment; the J2ME™
solution can be built entirely on the chipset's BREW software
layer.
