FOR RELEASE: TUESDAY,
NOVEMBER 19TH, 2002
LEUVEN,
BELGIUM – LONDON. Option (Nasdaq Europe: OPIN) a
leading supplier in wireless data communication equipment
today announced that it has developed and is supplying
a tailor made version of it’s tri band GPRS PC card
to Vodafone, the world’s leading mobile communications
company. The GlobeTrotter PC Card forms the basis of Vodafone’s
Remote Access, an end to end mobile data solution that
is being marketed on an international basis across the
Vodafone operational footprint.
Amit Pau, Managing Director for Vodafone Global Business
and Partner Markets said, “I am very pleased to
be working with Option. From the outset Option shared
a similar vision to that of Vodafone and had foreseen
and provisioned for most of our needs. The result of this
close collaboration has led to the international launch
of Vodafone Remote Access, mobilizing businesses globally.”
In conjunction with it’s customized GPRS PC card,
Option has developed with Vodafone a sophisticated but
easy to use “Dashboard” application that enables
the Remote Access user to have a one-click, secure connect
to their office at over 5 times the speed of traditional
GSM.
“I believe that the combination of Vodafone and
Option has led to the development of a truly amazing product,
the first of it’s kind to offer this level of end-to-end
mobile corporate connectivity,” said Jan Callewaert,
CEO at Option. “Vodafone presented us with the challenge
to create a bespoke connectivity solution, have the concept
proven in early adopter user trials, the technology tested
and approved across all the Vodafone partner networks.
I am confident that with the power of Vodafone’s
marketing campaign, their global brand presence, and their
penetration in the corporate market world wide, the Vodafone
Remote Access product will be an outstanding success”.
The Vodafone Remote Access product is multilingual. On
installation, all GPRS and country specific settings are
automatically configured. The Vodafone Remote Access user
simply needs to choose his preferred language and select
his local Vodafone operating company.
