OPTION FURTHER STRENGTHENS
ITS MANAGEMENT TEAM APPOINTING
JAAP KOESTAL AS VP RESPONSIBLE FOR SALES

Option, a leading innovator in wireless
communications, appoints Jaap Koestal as Vice President
of Sales. In this position, he will take responsibility
for the company’s sales activities towards the mobile
operators and the corporate market. Jaap Koestal will
report directly to Jan Callewaert, Option’s President
and CEO. Douglas Ros, former VP Sales and Marketing, takes
on the role of VP Business Development & Marketing.
Jan Callewaert: “I am delighted to have Jaap Koestal
in our management team. Jaap will be fully focused on
the sales of GlobeTrotter driving the expansion of our
current customer base."
Jaap Koestal commented: “Although the current trend
of customers generally is "to wait and see",
the pressure is building to come out with the next generation
of wireless functionalities. Option needs to be in a position
to enhance its commercial presence in the market place
by expanding in the UK and European markets. We will be
focused on all segments of the market specifically the
mobile telephony carriers and major corporations with
massive field forces. There is no doubt on my mind that
the Option products for GPRS and UMTS will find their
way to the many users that require a similar mobile experience
as they would be used to in their office or home. Option’s
current GPRS Globetrotter PC card will pave the way into
the new high speed broadband generation known as 3G”.
Jan Callewaert: “The appointment of Jaap Koestal
as VP Sales enables Douglas Ros to move into the role
of Business Development. Douglas has brought both the
Compaq GPRS and the Lucent 3G PC Card developments into
Option. As VP Business Development and Marketing Douglas
will be able to focus on the medium and longer term business
objectives.”
Jaap Koestal (44) was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands
with a higher Commercial-Economical education, has 22
years of corporate commercial experience and a vast background
in telecommunications. Prior to his start with Option,
Jaap formed and lead (sales) teams within Federal Express
and TIP Trailers and has also managed subsidiaries of
international companies of Thorn EMI, Deutsche Telekom
and Materna Communications. The specific experience gained
on his last two assignments will support him in his role
to expand the Option sales force in the Telco and Corporate
world. With Materna Communications Jaap also pioneered
the Telco Market with an innovative and unknown product
called... SMS.
