>> OPTION WINS AWARD OF BEST WIRELESS SOLUTION PROVIDER

  FOR RELEASE: 7 JUNE 2002

Option, the leading innovator in wireless communications, has won the Best Wireless Solution Provider Award at the annual Network&Telecom Awards 2002. Option has been chosen by the readers of Network&Telecom, the first enterprise network computing magazine in Belgium and a publication of International Data Group.

The award was presented to Option at a ceremony during the Telecom cITty fair, the marketplace for ICT solutions visited by over 15.000 professionals and business users, held in Brussels Expo. Option ranked amongst leading names such as Nokia, Compaq, Handspring, Ericsson, Apple, Motorola, Cisco and Fujitsu Siemens, winning the award in the Wireless category.

“The Awards are granted in different ways: the best products are tested in cooperation with our American sister magazine Network World, and afterwards our readers and editors select the best company in the “networking and telecom” segment,” says Jean-Paul De Clerck, editor of Network&Telecom. “Option as a Belgian company is distinguished because of its pioneer role in the release of products and technologies that enhance the connectivity of mobile solutions.”

Option’s latest product is GlobeTrotter, a tri-band GPRS PC radio card that brings high-speed GPRS Internet access to any notebook or PDA handheld that is equipped with a Type II PC Card slot and that uses the Microsoft Windows or Pocket PC operating systems. Users of GlobeTrotter can send and receive e-mail, browse the Internet and even schedule appointments while staying synchronized with their office or home desktop computer through the GPRS network. By plugging in a headset, they can also convert their notebook or PDA into a tri-band mobile phone. Being tri-band, GlobeTrotter is compatible with all GPRS/GSM networks and can be used anywhere in the world.

Next to the GlobeTrotter card, currently available on the market, Option also developed the tri-band Wireless GPRS/GSM Pack for the Compaq iPAQ, and has an agreement with Lucent Technologies to deliver high-speed data solutions for 3G UMTS wireless networks.
