FOR RELEASE: TUESDAY
21ST MAY 2002
 |
LEUVEN, BELGIUM. Option, the leading
innovator in wireless communications (NASDAQ Europe:
OPIN), today announces that it has signed an agreement
with T-Mobile International, the mobile communications
subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom (NYSE : DT) for the
supply of Option’s GlobeTrotter GPRS PC Card.
|
Under the agreement Option will supply customised versions
of GlobeTrotter promoting the new T-Mobile International
brand image. First commercial shipments of this branded
GlobeTrotter are scheduled to be made to T-Mobile in Germany
this month. Specifically for the home market and in line
with local regulations the entire product has been translated
into the German language. Other members of the T-Mobile
group may choose from a selection of localised language
versions.
“We looked at a number of competitive suppliers
and after a comprehensive evaluation process we selected
Option with its GlobeTrotter card as T-Mobile’s
preferred source for GPRS PC Cards”. Said Ulrich
Grote, Senior Director - Product Marketing and Service
Terminal Division for T-Mobile, “Option is an existing
supplier to T-Mobile with a known track record, and an
established after sales support service. Globetrotter,
being a tri-band device, matches our need to roll out
innovative services in all the markets in which we operate
by enabling the T-Mobile subscriber GPRS and GSM roaming
capability between Europe and the United States”.
Designed primarily as a GPRS data device with speeds averaging
56Kbs GlobeTrotter also supports GSM (circuit switched)
data at 14.4 Kbs and traditional Voice functionality.
Included with voice is SMS and SIM and Phonebook management.
Douglas Ros, Vice President of Sales and Marketing commented,
“I am very pleased that we have further expanded
our business relationship with T-Mobile and look forward
to sharing in the success of T-Mobiles global GPRS roll
out. T-Mobile is in a prime position to address the wireless

a major part in the wireless solutions provided by T-Mobile
for the Mobile Professional”.
