How to setup a modem connection on MAC OS?

This article explains how to setup a connection on Snow leopard without the use of a connection manager
Make sure that the device is connected to your pc and a SIM card is inserted correctly. Since Snow Leopard has no support for entering a PIN, this section is only applicable to SIM cards which have the PIN disabled.
Open the “Network” in “System Preferences”.
After opening you will get a list of network devices that are connected to your pc. Search the modem entry of your device and select it.
Enter “*99#” in the “Telephone Number” field. If your ISP requires a username and password fill in the “Account Name” and “Password” fields.
Now click on the “Advanced” button. The following screen will appear.
From the list of Models select “GPRS (GSM/3G)”. The screen will change to:
In the “APN” field enter the APN of your ISP.
Now click “OK” and then click “Connect”. When you are connected the screen will look like this:
