How do I set up a connection without using connection software?

This procedure details how to set up a dial-up connection in the Windows XP.
Setting up the dial-up connection for the first time
Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections and click on the icon “New Connection Wizard”. The following screen will appear:
Click on the ‘Next >’ button and choose “Connect to the Internet” and click the NEXT button in the following window
Choose “Set up my connection manually” and click on the 'Next' button
Choose the “Connect using a dial-up modem” option, and click on 'Next'
Select the correct modem (Starting with GlobeTrotter or GlobeSurfer) and click "Next"
You can type a name for the connection, which you will select the next time you need this dial-up connection, and click on "Next"
Type in the Phone number to dial, which is *99#, and click the ‘next’ button in the following window
Choose in the "Connection availablity" window the option you like, and then click the ‘next’ button
If your service provider requests you to enter username and password for setting up a PS data call connection, please enter it using the screen below
The connection is set up and ready to use. Click the ‘Finish’ button to close the wizard window
Connect using the dial-up connection
Make sure your data card is registered to the network. Go to Start -> Connect to -> Select “Your Connection name”. The following window will appear
Click on the 'Dial' button. The connection with Internet will be setup without any use of a connection manager.
