I have a rather poor reception in the area where I live. Is there an external antenna which I can used with the Icon 322 to improve the reception.

No. The Iicon 322 does not have an external antenna connection. However, the swivel of the device has an embedded antenna which allows the device to have an enhanced signal reception.
